Saint Petersburg Dance Holidays

On August 26, as part of the Saint Petersburg Dance Holidays (R) competition, the first American Smooth Professionals rating tournament took place under the auspices of SRDS.

For the first time in Russia, international American Smooth competitions among professional couples took place as part of the Champions` Ball 2018 competition. Last weekend, American Smooth Professionals was held for the first time under the auspices of SRDS with a prize fund of $500/300/200 for the winners. This tournament became important in the history of SRDS, since it was from this tournament that the association began to maintain its ranking among professional couples.

Three Russian couples took to the floor:

185 Artem Merenkov - Tatyana Merenkova

190 Alexander Tsyganov - Anna Blagodyreva

Despite the fact that there were few couples, a real struggle unfolded on the floor for the title of winner, which was won by Ivan Bagaev and Yuliana Voloshina.

The pairs Ivan Bagaev - Yuliana Voloshina and Artem Merenkov - Tatyana Merenkova received the same number of points in four dances, but in skating Ivan Bagaev and Yuliana Voloshina came out ahead.

American Smooth is rapidly beginning to develop in Russia and is attracting increasing interest from both the professional public and amateurs. It is already clear that couples from Russia are determined to win championship on the world stage in American Smooth.

We are sure that Russian couples will have new victories in the direction of American Smooth. In the new dance season, we will see vibrant competitions between professional couples at tournaments, after which the couples will compete for the title of Russian champions in the fall, October 27, on the floor of the State Kremlin Palace.
